About
Hello! I am Zhiyi Xiang, currently a Lecturer at the School of Automation and Electronic Information, Xiangtan University.
I was born in Suining County, Shaoyang, Hunan Province, and grew up in Loudi City, Hunan Province. I received my Ph.D. in Optical Engineering from the College of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies at the National University of Defense Technology. During my doctoral studies, I conducted research at the Laser Gyro Research Institute under the supervision of Prof. Shilong Jin and Associate Prof. Jian Zhou.
My research interests include laser Doppler velocimetry, inertial navigation, inertial-based integrated navigation, and multi-sensor information fusion, with a particular focus on high-accuracy and highly reliable autonomous navigation for ground vehicles in GNSS-denied environments. My research on the integration of vehicle-mounted laser Doppler velocimeters and inertial measurement units encompasses high-accuracy system modeling, online calibration, outlier detection, adaptive filtering, and deep learning-assisted navigation.
I am particularly interested in improving the accuracy, reliability, and environmental adaptability of navigation systems through novel self-contained velocity sensors and intelligent information-processing methods. I also aim to further explore the deep integration of laser Doppler velocimeters, inertial sensors, satellite navigation systems, and other onboard sensors, thereby providing stable and trustworthy navigation and positioning capabilities for intelligent vehicles and unmanned systems operating in challenging environments.
At Xiangtan University, I will continue to pursue teaching and research in communications, automation, navigation, and multi-sensor information fusion. I also look forward to exchanging ideas and collaborating with faculty members, students, and researchers in related fields.
Outside research and teaching, I enjoy history and geography, with a particular interest in Chinese history. I am also a long-time video game enthusiast. Some of my favorite games include League of Legends, Naraka: Bladepoint, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Monster Hunter: World, the Battlefield series, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, and No Man’s Sky.
